How We Started
Crack-A-Mac began in 2022, after returning home to South Africa from working in the USA. With a strong desire to build a future in farming. Inspired by growing up alongside a farming father. The journey started with the belief that I first needed to “earn the right to farm” by building a strong, meaningful business.
Early exploration through Zambia and Australia exposed me to macadamia orchards and innovative processing methods, where I first discovered the sawn macadamia nut. The idea that would become Crack-A-Mac. Back in Ballito, I began developing the concept, designing early machinery and learning the process through hands-on trial and error.
What started as a one-person operation producing small batches slowly grew into a business. My sister joined early on to help develop the brand and packaging.
Our Roots in Farming
With strong ties to farming in KwaZulu-Natal, including our family farm in Zululand, we know that not all macadamias are the same. Different varieties bring different characteristics, and we use this knowledge intentionally when developing our products.
We also work closely with trusted farmers across KwaZulu-Natal, ensuring consistent quality.
